Aug 5, 2026 closed-beta signup deadline
3 marketplaces at launch: Amazon FBM, eBay, TikTok Shop

What happened

BigCommerce launched a closed beta of Feedonomics Surface, a product that syncs marketplace inventory and pricing across Amazon FBM, eBay, and TikTok Shop. The beta is US-only, and merchant signups run through August 5, 2026.

The marketplace list rewards a close read. Amazon FBM is merchant-fulfilled — your own stock counts are the exposure, not Amazon's warehouse. eBay is the perennial second channel. TikTok Shop is the one plenty of stores are testing but few have wired into real inventory infrastructure. That's a lineup picked around where sync errors actually cost money.

Worth noting who's launching it: BigCommerce itself, announcing a Feedonomics product on its own blog. That tells you how tightly the feed platform is stitched into BigCommerce's multichannel roadmap — this isn't a third-party listing buried in an app store.

Why this matters

Inventory-sync errors are one of multichannel's quiet taxes. Oversell on a marketplace and you eat the cancellation, plus the account-health hit — and marketplaces punish cancellation rates hard. Price drift between channels is its own slow leak. Most merchants patch all this with middleware and hope, and the middleware bill compounds: another subscription, another mapping layer, another place for a stock count to go stale. A platform-native sync attacks the problem at the source, which is the right layer for it to be solved at.

A closed beta cuts both ways, though. Early access means you get to shape the product around your catalog's quirks — bundles, variants, the SKU that exists on eBay but not Amazon — while the roadmap is still soft. Beta software means you shouldn't bet a holiday season on it, and closed-beta features have been known to shift or vanish before general availability. The honest posture: apply now, run it in parallel, and keep your current tooling until the sync proves itself against your actual data.

TikTok Shop making the launch list is the strategic tell. BigCommerce is treating it as a durable channel worth first-class inventory plumbing, not an experiment — a useful signal if TikTok Shop has been sitting on your maybe pile.

What to do about it

Apply before August 5

If you're a US-based BigCommerce merchant selling on Amazon FBM, eBay, or TikTok Shop, submit the beta signup now. The window is fixed, acceptance isn't guaranteed, and the cost of applying is a form. Waiting for general availability is fine — losing the option isn't.

Put a number on your sync problem

Pull the last 90 days of marketplace cancellations and count how many trace back to stock or price mismatches between channels. That figure tells you whether Surface is a nice-to-have or the highest-ROI thing you touch this quarter — and it's the number to watch after any sync tool goes live.

Run parallel, don't rip out

If accepted, keep your existing sync tooling live and compare the two until Surface has survived a restock, a price change, and a sellout on your real catalog. Beta means beta; your Amazon account health doesn't get a beta exemption.
