SEO Content Writing

CONTENT IS KING, and our SEO content strategies have been verified by Google! This is no surprise, however, how exactly to write, format, and display the content on your website has not always been clear due to Google’s reluctance to provide specifics. Google’s John Mueller gave us an update during his June 4th Google Hangouts session.

Before I get into the specifics of what Mr. Mueller said and how it verifies our content strategies, here are some blogs I wrote about how we approach content for our clients.

Above the Fold SEO Content

Ever since I can remember, clients would want content as low as possible on their website, usually below the products on category pages. I would remind them Google prefers content above the fold, but having well-written and engaging content anywhere on the page is better than none. It still is.

However, Google’s John Mueller, according Search Engine Journal, has made it clear.

“The important part for us is really that there is some amount of unique content in the above the fold area. So if you have a banner on top, and you have a generic hero image on top, that’s totally fine. But some of the above the fold content should be unique for that page.

And that could be something like a heading that’s visible in a minimum case. But at least some of the above the fold content should be unique. So that’s kind of the guidance that we have in that regard.”

There you have it. Above the fold content specific to each page really does matter as much as we’ve been saying, and should really be considered more than before.
