Broad Core Update

Google launched a broad core algorithm update at the beginning of May, which shook up the online world. While there are some industries that seem to have been effected, there are no real search engine optimization strategies that seem to have been targeted. The only real strategy that seems to have been hit, is “thin content.”

What is “Thin Content?”

Thin content is what Google defines as content that is useless to the user. This has always been a standard by Google, however it seems they are really targeting this now. This makes sense considering back in October, they released a BERT update which increased the importance and value of content directed at user intent. Instead of just writing a paragraph listing categories or products in order to create an internal linking strategy, it is now imperative to develop fully fleshed out analysis and descriptions. Below is a video by Google themselves to give you some more information.
